Writing and Rhetoric, BA
Each student forms a program of study in consultation with a faculty adviser in English.
General Requirements
To earn the BA with a major in writing and Rhetoric, students must complete 33 hours in writing, creative writing, or English (exclusive of course and course). Of these, at least 24 hours must be in upper-division CRWT, WRIT, or ENGL courses (30000 level and above). No more than 9 hours of lower-division credit may be applied to the major.
All writing and rhetoric majors are required to take course (Writing Major Seminar), course (Writing Internship with on-and off-campus worksites) after they have attained junior standing and completed 9 hours in WRIT, CRWT or ENGL courses (exclusive of course, and course).
Specific Requirements
To earn a major in writing, students must complete at least 3 of the 33 hours in Digital Intensive courses (Writing Course Subcategories). Most of these courses can be used to satisfy one of the distribution requirements listed below in categories 1, 2, 3, 6 or 8.
3 hours from the Writing and Publication Subcategory
6 hours from the Rhetorics and Cultures Subcategory
3 hours from the Digital Rhetorics and Design subcategory
3 hours of Writing Internship (course)
3 hours of Writing Major Seminar (course)
15 elective hours of any ENGL, CRWT or WRIT courses courses
Although they are not required, course and ENGL 50970, courses in special topics that change from semester to semester, may satisfy one of the above requirements for majors. Consult the department or check the department Web site, https://addran.tcu.edu/english/index.php
