Department(s)

Long Description (Catalog Description)

Prerequisites: MANA 30153 with a grade of at least C, and must be a declared business major; permission of department required for non-business majors. Diversity--be it gender, cultural, racial, or some other form--is pervasive in modern workplaces. Successful leaders must operate within this diversity, overcoming the challenges that can occur when coordinating people with different perspectives and experiences, but also reaping the rewards of those differences (e.g., creativity and innovation). This course examines leadership skills at the intersection of diversity and business. Students will explore how diversity impacts leaders' and employees' perceptions and behaviors, and in turn, how these shape important individual and organizational outcomes. The course will also look at how organizations can meet the needs of diverse employees and other stakeholders.
