Prerequisites: BUSI 30843 with a grade of at least C for students in the BNSF Neeley Leadership Program. For others, MANA 30153 with a grade of at least C, and must be a business major. Modern organizational work frequently takes place within the boundaries of teams of various types (face-to-face, virtual, or hybrid teams). Understanding how teams function and how best to manage them has become vitally important for successful leadership. The purpose of this course is to expose students to and provide opportunities for them to apply practical knowledge of team dynamics. Emphasis is placed on how to create a team environment and lead a team to promote creativity, psychological safety, cohesion, permission to fail and learn, and inclusivity. Students in this class will also utilize a framework such as design thinking or systems thinking in a team environment to understand and solve problems.
