Long Description (Catalog Description)

This course offers an introduction to the analytical study of children's literature with a focus on children's books that focus on complex societal topics. We will explore books that address topics such as poverty, immigration, race, sexuality, war, and the Holocaust. We will study novels, picture books, and film. This course will enhance student understanding of people and cultures throughout the world.
