Long Description (Catalog Description)
Prerequisite: COSC 30253. The logical organization and functional behavior of digital computers are studied. Fundamental principles in the design of the CPU, memory, I/O devices, and bus structures are presented. Performance enhancement topics such as caching, memory interleaving, interconnection schemes, pipelining, memory management, reduced instruction sets (RISC) and multiprocessing are discussed.
