Music Minor (18 hours)
Music Minor Overview
There are two tracks in the music minor:
The General Track is the most flexible, allowing students to tailor their coursework to their musical interests. No previous music experience is required.
The Performance Track is designed for students who are interested in developing their skills via instrumental/vocal performance. Previous music experience is required.
Music minors are required to take the Music Theory Placement Exam for all music theory and aural skills classes except MUSI 10043 Music Theory for Non-Majors. The exam is typically offered once prior to the first day of classes in the Fall semester. Exam dates will be posted on the School of Music website.
Music minors may enroll in applied lessons pending faculty consultation and studio availability.
The minor requires a minimum of 18 credits, including 6 credits of upper-division coursework. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses applied toward the minor.
