SOWO 40823: Practicum Seminar I
Prerequisites: SOWO 10833, 30833, 30843, 30853, 30863, 30883, 40863, 40883. Minimum TCU GPA of 2.25 and minimum 2.5 GPA in social work; approval through the Practicum Education admissions process; concurrent enrollment in SOWO 40813 and 40843.
Practicum Seminar I provides an opportunity to apply the knowledge, values, and skills learned in the classroom to social work practice in your internship. This course marks your entry into social work practice and the path to becoming a professional social worker.
SOWO 40843: Practicum Education I
Prerequisites: SOWO 10833, 30833, 30843, 30853, 30863, 30883, 40863, 40883. Minimum TCU GPA of 2.25 and minimum 2.5 GPA in social work; approval through the Practicum Education admission process; concurrent enrollment in SOWO 40813 and 40823.
Enrollment in this course requires a supervised practicum placement within a generalist social work agency. Students will have the opportunity to apply social work knowledge, values, and skills in a hands-on setting and are responsible for completing 200 hours (approximately 13.5 hours per week for 15 weeks) at their placement. Additional fees apply to this course.
SOWO 40833: Practicum Seminar II
Prerequisites: SOWO 40823 with a grade of C or better; minimum TCU GPA of 2.25 and minimum 2.5 GPA in social work; faculty approval; concurrent enrollment in SOWO 40893.
Practicum Seminar II builds upon the foundation established in Practicum Seminar I, allowing students to further integrate and apply social work knowledge, values, and skills in their ongoing internship experience. This course supports continued professional growth and the development of competence in social work practice.
SOWO 40893: Practicum Education II
Prerequisites: SOWO 40843 with a grade of C or better; minimum TCU GPA of 2.25 and minimum 2.5 GPA in social work; faculty approval; concurrent enrollment in SOWO 40833.
Practicum Education II continues the practicum placement, providing students with the opportunity to further develop and deepen their practice knowledge, values, and skills with clients within a generalist social work agency. The student will complete 200 hours (approximately 13.5 hours per week for 15 weeks) at their placement. Additional fees apply to this course.
