This course examines medicine, health, and illness as products of social arrangements and processes. We will explore how inequality, stress, and institutional structures shape patterns of morbidity and mortality, and how social conditions become embodied. Using foundational theories and contemporary research, the course highlights how social structures and cultural norms shape health across the life course.
