Communicating Psychological Science: From Research to the Real World Communicating

Long Description (Catalog Description)
Prerequisite: Psychology or Neuroscience major, junior standing and higher, PSYC30503. This course teaches students how to communicate psychological science effectively to both professional and public audiences. Students will learn to write and speak with clarity, accuracy, and engagement across a variety of formats, including journal articles, posters, TED-style talks, op-eds, podcasts, and social media. The course also explores the ethical and strategic use of AI tools for drafting, editing, and optimizing science communication. Emphasis will be placed on understanding your audience, telling compelling stories with data, and communicating complex ideas simply. A key focus of the course is iterative improvement: all major assignments will be submitted as drafts, receive feedback, and be revised for final grading.
