Long Description (Catalog Description)

Prerequisites: Graduate status in the Department of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences or permission of instructor. This course is designed to teach the basics of Environmental Impact Statements and the NEPA process for students seeking a career in environmental consulting. At the completion of the course, students will understand the basics of evaluating federally-funded development projects for impacts to the environment. Students will be able to evaluate if the project qualifies for a categorical exclusion, and perform environmental assessment (EA) and environmental impact state (EIS). Students will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they gain to real-life situations throughout the class.
