Global Healthcare Systems
Department(s)
Long Description (Catalog Description)
This course provides an overview of the healthcare delivery system in the United States in comparison to different systems of countries around the globe. The course explores the drivers of change over time that shape the organization and delivery of healthcare services and opportunities for innovation and improvements in the cost, quality, and access dimensions of healthcare services in these different systems. The course considers the settings in which healthcare services are delivered and the relationships between the different providers of those services and the payers (i.e., insurance companies) of those services. Discussion and learning activities will also focus on the expense of the U.S. healthcare system compared to single-payer and other systems of care and how those expenses translate to outcomes in association with access, equity, and quality of services
