Long Description (Catalog Description)

Three lecture hours per week. Introduction to basic chemical principles: atomic & molecular structure, light, bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry, oxidation-reduction, solutions, gases/liquids/solids, intermolecular forces, and thermochemistry. Emphasis on problem-solving and practical applications from industry, the earth, and living organisms. This course serves as a prerequisite for CHEM 10225, but does not qualify as a prerequisite for CHEM 10123.
