Prerequisite: Sophomore standing. This course explores the relation between religion and healthcare in the American medical context. We will trace the historic interplay between religious practice and fostering human health in the West, with emphasis on the prominence of Christianity, the development of secularism, and religious plurality that marks contemporary healthcare. This course is suited for those preparing for roles as healthcare professionals, with the goal of fostering cultural competence.
