Prerequisites: ENSC 10143. This course offers an introduction to the science of sustainability and emphasizes multi- and trans-disciplinary approaches to solving the world¿s most pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges. In this course, we explore the science behind sustainability through a complex systems perspective and examine strategies used by governmental institutions as well as nonprofit and for-profit entities to develop and implement sustainability. Themes discussed include climate, water, food systems, energy and materials management, green space and biodiversity, pollution, environmental justice, cities, green building design, and transportation.
