Prerequisites: 30 cumulative hours of coursework is required. A developmental class is recommended. In this course, history, theory and neuroscience of play are examined. Play as it relates to physical, social, cognitive, language and emotional development is explored in children birth through adolescence. The impact of culture, gender, and technology on children's play is explored. Special attention is given to play observations, assessment through play, and therapeutic play.
