Prerequisites: RELI 10023, or permission of the Instructor. This course comprises an intellectual and imaginative journey into the fascinating world of Hindu and Buddhist goddess traditions in South Asian and Western culture contexts. It utilizes various types of primary resources to understand the nature, role, and purpose of South Asian goddess traditions within local and global landscapes, while foregrounding ethnographic and life history materials, to make meaningful sense of lived religion in the contemporary world.
