Prerequisites: None, but PHIL 10003, 10103, or 20343 encouraged. This course will explore various Western and non-Western conceptions of mind, consciousness, and self with particular attention to the interconnectedness of mind, body, and environment. An expanded understanding of our interconnectedness can enhance our awareness of climate change so that we can make positive changes in our lifestyles an assume important leadership roles for the betterment of humanity and the environment. Topics include attention and awareness, mindfulness, embodiment, situatedness, neuroscience, phenomenology, ecology, ecocentrism, inequity, and climate.
