Long Description (Catalog Description)
Prerequisites: PHYS 10263 and 10273. Two hours of lectures and two hours of lab per week. Topics covered include telescopes, astronomical measurement techniques, modern detectors and instrumentation, the effect of the Earth's atmosphere on light. Selected experiments in telescope properties and resolution, photometry, spectroscopy, geometrical and physical optics, atomic physics, and studies of astronomical survey data.
