Prerequisites: HIST 10213 or equivalent is recommended. While traditional history courses focus on major political and economic trends and individuals, this course addresses the culture, beliefs, and activities of ordinary people: the peasants, artisans, and laborers who made up the vast majority of the population in early modern Europe (1300-1800). Topics include food and festivity, witchcraft, popular religion, death, sexuality, and crime. (EU)
