Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in JOUR 10113 or JOUR 10203. This course explores the historical, economic, legal, political and social implications of the relationship between marginalized groups and the mass media. The class will explore how the media help in constructing notions of social reality. The primary focus of this class is on media representations of marginalized groups in the United States.
