3 credit hours. Prerequisites: Must be a declared Business major; a grade of 'C' or better in INSC 40313 and INSC 40323. This course serves as the capstone course for a major in supply and value chain management. It provides an in-depth study of the practice of supply chain management in manufacturing and service industries. Supply chain management is the integration of the activities associated with the flow and transformation of goods from the raw materials stage through to the end user, to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. This course leverages the conceptual foundations of supply chain planning and coordination introduced in previous courses and provides a hands-on, integrative project experience relating strategic concepts and tools to meeting the challenges in the management of supply chains. Topics include management of operations and logistics networks, material flows and the role of information systems technology.
