3 credit hours. Prerequisites: Must be a declared Business major or by permission of department chair; grade of C or better in INSC 30313; concurrent enrollment in INSC 30313 is permitted. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to logistics and transportation as critical components of modern supply chain management. Students will explore how goods, services, and information move efficiently and effectively from suppliers to end customers. Key topics include transportation modes and strategies, inventory management, order fulfillment, warehousing, logistics, and the role of technology in coordinating these activities. The course emphasizes both the operational and strategic aspects of logistics, highlighting how companies use logistics to gain competitive advantage, improve customer satisfaction, and respond to a rapidly changing global marketplace. Real-world examples, case studies, and analytical tools will be used to connect theory with practice.
