Long Description (Catalog Description)
Prerequisite: A 2.0 C or higher in FTDM 20213 or 20313. An extensive exploration of the tools and techniques used by the cinematographer. Lectures will cover the evolving technologies of film and HD filmmaking with an emphasis on filmspace, visual language, lens language, camera dynamics, cinematic continuity, exposure, the tools of lighting, color theory and lighting as storytelling. Weekly labs will include lighting workshops in the studio with emphasis on single camera film production. Students will work on individual projects culminating with a film production.
