Long Description (Catalog Description)

Prerequisites: NTDT 20403, 30123 or 30113, 30233, 30331 or concurrent enrollment, CHEM 30123 and BIOL 20214, or permission of the instructor. Knowledge and skills necessary for implementation of the Nutrition Care Process and evidence-based nutrition intervention among individuals with physiological and biochemical abnormalities associated with various conditions such as, but not limited to, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Study of pharmacology and nutrition support as a component of Medical Nutrition Therapy. Lecture format incorporates case studies to provide skill enhancement.
