Prerequisite: MATH 10054 or 10273 or 10283 or MATH 10524 with a grade of C- or better; or a score of at least 600 on the SAT Math exam; or a score of at least 24 on the ACT Math exam. An introduction to discrete methods used in mathematics and computer science. Topics covered include formal logic, sets, the principle of inclusion-exclusion, functions, proof techniques including mathematical induction, number theory, and algorithms. Students are expected to have mathematical background equivalent to college or high school precalculus.
