Commercial Dance Minor
Admission to the Commercial Dance Minor requires an audition and faculty approval.
The Commercial Dance Minor provides students with comprehensive training in contemporary commercial dance styles designed for careers in the entertainment industry. Emphasizing versatility, performance readiness, and professional practice, the program integrates technical training, artistic development, and industry-focused standards.
Students study a range of commercial dance forms, which may include jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, musical theatre, and international dance forms, while developing strength, musicality, performance quality, and collaborative skills. Coursework also introduces students to audition techniques, dance for camera, improvisation, and current trends in commercial performance environments such as stage, film, television, and digital media.
The Commercial Dance Minor requires 15 hours. Six of these hours must be upper-level.
